The Rotary Club of Windsor (1918), is planning a “Windsor West Health Day” tentatively scheduled for Spring 2023. The project is being co-chaired by PDG Rick Caron (Administration and Logistics) and Dr. Kiran Tatlay (Programming). The objective is to address the social determinants of health by providing education and impactful activities. The Health Day will also offer information to support residents to get connected to available community resources including primary care.
The long-lasting impact will be a healthier community with greater resiliency and defense against disease and future viruses, such as COVID and flu variants. We will raise health awareness in this vulnerable population with the added benefit of perhaps detecting the onset of disease through basic health checks. Our goal is to create an infrastructure for this event that can be replicated year after year. We are proud that Family Services Windsor-Essex, under the leadership of Joyce Zuk, will partner with on this initiative.
To support this event, we have just submitted a $10,000 grant application to the Gordie Howe International Bridge company under their community organization investment initiative. Many thanks to Vitra Chodha for bringing the grant opportunity to our attention, and to PDG Rick Caron, Kiran Tatlay, Janet Kelly, and Leona MacIntyre for their grant writing support and advice. We will learn the outcome of the grant in April.
We are now looking for volunteers to be on the committee. Please send an email to PDG Rick Caron at rcaron@uwindsor.ca if you wish to participate
RYLA - Now Accepting Applications
Limited to 100 qualified students
The RYLA Committee has made the difficult decision to transition the RYLA 2022 conference from an in-person event to a virtual event. While this is not what we had envisioned, we believe it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our attendees, staff, and the community as a whole.
The RYLA virtual conference will be held March 4 from 5:30 PM-6:30 PM, and March 5 from 10 AM-12 PM and 1 PM-3 PM. Although we will not be in-person, we will still have an inspiring program ready for our participants. We encourage Rotarians to identify and sponsor highly qualified student leaders. The RYLA price has been reduced to US$ 75 which includes a RYLA T-shirt and all conference materials. Participants can register using the link below. https://forms.gle/gp9kiVzichkVuFbz9

Camp to Camp: Easter Seals Event
Help us reach our fundraising goal
Easter Seals has teamed up with The Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) to enable a Fall Fitness Challenge entitled Camp to Camp, which will take place across the region.
This year, The Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) is taking part in Easter Seals' Virtual Event Camp to Camp! We will be moving 50 km in support of both raising funds for Easter Seals' 100th Anniversary Centennial and developing our Club's programs and services through a shared 50/50 split.
With your help, we can celebrate the Centennial of Easter Seals in our community in 2022 while illuminating hope for all those we serve!
