Happy Valentine's Day! A fun time was had by all at the annual Rotary Youth Exchange Valentine's Day Auction this past Monday. First, Don Snyder recognized two members who have contributed to Rotary by giving out Paul Harris Fellowship Awards. One was to long-standing member Sue Byron (1 Ruby) and the other to new member Nurlan Turdaliev. Thank you for your continued Service Above Self.
Next up: The Youth Exchange Auction. Put on by the Youth Exchange Committee, this event is one that our Club looks forward to every year, and this year was no exception. With Peter Hrastovec and Greg DeHetre as auctioneers, everyone had a great time biding on all different sorts of items; from a beautiful earring and necklace set created by Greg's Ring Weaver Studios to an oak wall clock, a lovely afghan crocheted by Janet Kelly to a waffle maker, a Montreal Canadians Hockey Sweater to sippy cups from Past President Lou Valente's President's Night - and everything in between - there was surely something for everyone's taste. And with all proceeds benefitting our Exchange Students and Host Families, why shop anywhere else?
The Youth Exchange Committee thanks everyone who came out to support this amazing initiative. It was a huge success, with a total of $1831.84 raised.
The Young Rotary Leaders are raising funds for our Centennial Year Scholarship Awards.
Here's how it works:
1) The class is free, but the Young Rotary Leaders are looking to raise funds for a great cause. Come out to a fun, action-packed Boot Camp class. Everyone is welcome (even though the event is taking place at the women's club, men and women alike are encouraged to attend).
2) Don't want to come out to the class, but still want to help out? You can still donate to this amazing initiative.

Rotarians - support BANA, our community partner, by attending their Speakeasy Gala event:
In honour of our 35th Anniversary the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association (BANA) is having a celebration and you’re invited!
“Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, you get to walk into ours.”
Journey with BANA as we send you back in time to the days of prohibition with their “Roaring 1920’s Speakeasy” themed gala on Saturday, February 17th at Caesar’s Windsor.
Be part of the festivities as we acknowledge three and a half decades of service provision to Windsor and Essex County and help us launch the future of treatment and education in our community.
Not your average fundraiser; we`re “Putting on the Ritz” for this elegant affair. Whether you’re in vintage apparel or modern formal dress you’ll be transported back in time as the sounds of
smooth jazz fill the air, zoot suits and flapper dresses are all the rage, and good times are had by all.
Don’t miss musical performances from the Windsor’s Favourite Jazz Group – “the Brian Burke Quartet” and “Some Guys who like to Sing” along with a special appearance by “the Windsor Circus School,”
unique photo opportunities and over $10,000 in raffle prizes including:
2 round-trip tickets to any regular WestJet Destination
Vacation destination packages
A Spitfires Suite package
Original art and Home Décor pieces
Photography sessions
Auto detailing
Dental and Vision packages
…and much, much more!
A fun-filled evening of surprizes, entertainment and excellent food is on order for this swanky affair so join us for Valentine’s Day because this is the event for you.
So get on your “glad rags” and come along with us for a night to remember.
Be a part of the Club's significant fundraiser. To volunteer please contact Coordinator Walter Willms at 519-966-7150 or walter.willms.windsor@gmail.com. He, or a designate, will be in attendance at every bingo.
