Today's Program:

Youth Exchange Auction

Our Annual Youth Exchange Auction is a fun event where Rotarians will bring in items for Auction and then bid on these items.  All money raised is earmarked for a special account that the Youth Exchange Committee uses for our Exchange Students and Host Families. Some examples are Christmas gifts for the Host Families, welcome gifts for our students, student bus passes, events planned to bring Exchange students and potential host families together, etc. Our goal is to ensure the continuity of this very important Rotary initiative!

We ask all Rotarians to consider donating a gift, and absolutely bringing money to bid on a special gift for Valentine’s Day!

February is Peace & Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month, and the evening of February 5th featured our first speaker from our Club’s Centennial Series. A profound thank you to Dr. Fred Pearson, Professor of Political Science, Director of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at Wayne State University and Past President of Rotary Club of Detroit, for the enlightening talk he gave about the current state of peace and conflict and the importance of positively managing and resolving conflict constructively. Thank you to all who came out, and be sure to add April 9th, 5:30-7:45 to your calendars and attend the Centennial Speaker Series #2 where Dr. Ron Denham, Founding Chair of the Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (Rotary Club of Toronto-Eglinton) will be speaking about water and sanitation.

To see photos of the event and to watch the videos that were shown (one about the 2017 Rotary World Peace Conference and the other featuring Rotary Past President Sakuji Tanaka’s discussions about peace), please visit our website at: http://rotary1918.com/Stories/1st-centennial-speaker-series-peace-and-conflict-prevention-resolution
