Please note the correction to this Wheel - it was actually PP Mike Drake who selected Sandra Pupatello as one of his mentors. See correction below.

An annual tradition. The 2nd President's Day was held this past Monday, honouring Past President's who have served our Club.

The assignment for each president was to choose one mentor from Rotary, and one from other walks of life. This proved to be no easy task, as it was hard for most to select just one. The Club enjoyed hearing all the different responses. Here are some highlights of what some PPs took away from their selected mentors. All good advice!
  • Mike Drake selected Sandra Pupatello as one of his mentors, and he remembers her introducing her team as working with her, not for her: "We work together" and not "he works for me".
  • One of Janet Kelly's mentors was Norm Wheeler, who greatly impacted her by saying "do what it takes to get the job done".
  • Rick Caron's non-Rotary mentor Neil Gold recommended him to "look at the idea, not the person who it came from".
  • Bev Cyr selected Fred Sorrell who is quoted as having said "say what you mean and mean what you say". Also, her grandfather often reminded her: "To thine own self be true".
  • Gary Wintermute selected Dave Davis who inspired him by saying "leave the world in a better way than when you entered it".

Very well-deserved. Janet has been a member of our Club for over 28 years, and was president in 2013-2014. She's an incredible woman who really knows how to get things done and make amazing things happen! Not mentioned in this article is her unwavering dedication; when Janet takes on a project, you know the outcome will be outstanding. Children's Fest continues to grow every year in large part because of Janet's commitment (the fest will be celebrating it's 25th year this September!). Most recently, the Centennial Legacy projects, including the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) Centennial Hub - connecting Windsor/Essex trails - and the Centennial Plaza, lovingly referred to by our Club as "the crowning jewel" of our Centennial, would not have been what they are without Janet Kelly's driving force. Our Club is proud to have Janet as an instrumental member and leader. Huge congratulations!
