Monday Recap
A special thank you to Dr. Jeff Noonan, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Windsor, for joining us to share his thoughts on the philosophy of living the “Good Life.” His presentation gave us an opportunity to pause and reflect on what truly brings meaning, purpose and value to our lives, and what it means to live well.
We also encourage our members to continue taking part in our upcoming RICH speakers. These presentations give us the opportunity to learn from fascinating people in our community, explore new ideas and, perhaps, leave each meeting with something new to think about.
Peace Pole Dedication – Saturday, September 26
As a contributing club to the Peace Pole project, we would love to see our members at the upcoming Peace Pole Dedications this Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m.
The dedication will be followed by a walk from each end of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, with participants meeting in the middle!
Here is some essential information to help you prepare:
The attached red/blue flyer includes the event times and order of events.
A two-page PDF with maps for the Canadian location is also included below.
BRING YOUR PASSPORT (or equivalent). The moment you set foot on the bridge, you must be prepared to clear customs in order to leave.
If you preordered a shirt, it will be available for pickup at the Peace Pole Dedication sites.
The bridge has a 5-degree incline. It’s not mountain climbing, but there will be some uphill walking (and, of course, downhill on the way back!).
There are no washrooms at the bridge, so please plan your fluid intake accordingly.
I'm so looking forward to seeing you Saturday!

Truth & Reconciliation: Through the Eyes of Youth
Wednesday, September 30, 2026
Essex Centre Sports Complex – Shaheen Community Room 60 Fairview Ave. W., Essex
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Essex, this evening will feature two local participants from this year’s Honouring Indigenous Peoples (HIP) Youth-to-Youth Program, who will share their personal experiences and the lessons they gained through this meaningful journey.
The HIP Youth-to-Youth Program brings Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth together to build relationships through shared experiences, dialogue, learning, and cultural understanding. The program places an important focus on both Truth and Reconciliation.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from young people whose experiences offer hope for the future and remind us of the importance of listening, learning, and walking the path of reconciliation together.
Everyone is welcome, and light refreshments will be provided.
Youth voices matter. Truth comes before reconciliation.
