Monday, we welcome Karen Morneau, to speak to us on behalf of Maryvale about how they've adapted their programing and their services for to the pandemic.
Karen talked about the impact that covid has had on children/youth and their families. To better serve families locally they've invested in an interpreter and other efforts have been made to maximize the resources and services available in Windsor-Essex. Karen also shared gratitude for the generocity of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) for funding the Rotary Home for Children and Youth that serves children up to the age of 17. It is the only hospital led program that is not housed at the hospital. She also discussed access to child psychiatry, that was previously unavailable, Windsor-Essex now has 5 child psychiatrists and the resources needed to support them. They have served over 4,000 youth and offer other services like life coaches, special education teachers, and transition coaches to support youth as they develop skills for school and in the community.
