Monday, we welcomed guest speaker Dr. Janet Orchard to speak on behalf of Maryvale and the Rotary Home for Children and Youth.

The program has been described as "both life-saving and life-changing" thanks to the support of their local partners! The Rotary Home For Children was established in 2008 by the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918), and they have been able to help so many families thank the support they've received from Rotary. Their state-of-the-art building, designed to meet the mental health needs of kids in crisis, includes lots of windows to provide natural light, wide halls, and so much great feedback from kids who have used their services.

Before this, parents' only choice was to send kids to Pediatrics at the hospital, but they couldn't provide the same level of care that the home offers today.
Covid has had a significant impact on the home. The need has been relentless and had caused a tremendous feeling of isolation on youth and their families.
Dr. Orchard shared the long history with the Rotary home and connections with the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918). She thanked various members and past presidents who have made a significant contribution to the success of their mission.
She described this as a critical service in the community that filled a huge gap in care for youth, and now others want to emulate what is happening at the Rotary Home for Kids and Youth!
