Monday, July 19th, we welcomed Kathi Poupard and Cathy Robertson from the Bryerswood Youth Camp to speak to us about an exciting new opportunity for children and youth!

Bryerswood Youth Camp is a year-round educational camp where youth challenges are explored, life skills are developed, and self-esteem grows!

With the expansion of their new camp design, Kathi explained that they are striving to lower carbon footprint and become carbon neutral because limiting their environmental footprint is important.

They’re grateful to have received many grants to help them with the development and the purchase of their new space. They shared an aerial view of the camp as it looks today, which included a lot of open visibility and limited privacy.
The new blueprint includes more privacy to all Bryerwood to accommodate more groups simultaneously. The current buildings on the property are beyond their lifespan, not accessible and not energy efficient, so they will be replacing the existing structures with designs that can accommodate everyone and built with eco-friendly concepts.

The group was impressed with the visual of the new camp design, specifically the special attention to accommodate mobility aids in the dormitories and accessible yurts.

To raise money that have had to do many fundraising initiatives such as yard sales, bottle drives, drive-through dinners, etc., and they have all been very challenging because of covid.
They have received many donations have been critical in bringing their vision to life.
