In honour of World Water Day, we welcomed Dr. Saad Jasim to speak to our group about the importance of groundwater.
Dr. Saad Jasim spoke to our group in honour of world water day on March 22.

Dr. Jasim explained the important role that groundwater plays in our everyday lives and how climate change will continue to have serious implications on our groundwater supply. We may have more groundwater than we realize since we don't always know what's under our feet. Appropriately this year's theme is, "MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE" because we could be failing to harness a potentially vital water resources.

There are a few big threats to our water supply which include, climate change, our growing population and pollution. One of the final graphs in Dr. Jasim's presentation highlighted the many ways that water is used and those include: health hygiene and sanitation, human settlements, energy and low carbon development. environment, ecosystems and biodiversity.

We need to work together to sustainably manage this precious resource.

Groundwater may be out of sight, but it must not be out of mind.
