Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) welcomed students and their teachers, counsellors and families for the 19th annual Dr. Clare R. MacLeod Student Volunteer Awards.  Each year, our Club invites all of the high schools in the County to select a student who exemplifies "Service Above Self" through volunteering in their schools and communities.

Master of Ceremonies, Allison Prieur, chair of the New Generations Committee, spoke about Dr. Clare R. MacLeod, a long-time member of our Club and a renowned educator in the community and in the Province. She then introduced Nour Hachem-Fawaz, President and founder of the Build A Dream organization, who gave an inspirational talk directed to the young community leaders in the room, encouraging them to continue to take action and follow their dreams. She explained her mother was an inspiration to her, being a strong woman who, after being a stay-at-home mother until her children were grown, developed her own business in a male-dominated sector. Nour developed Build a Dream to encourage and empower female students to pursue careers in skilled trades, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), emergency response, entrepreneurship, politics and leadership.

Dr. Zak Shaw presented the recipients of the Dr. Clare MacLeod Secondary School Volunteer awards, recognizing the future great leaders of our community. Congratulations to each and every award recipient, and thank you for your continuous hard work in our community!
