Dr. Clara Howitt spoke about the reciprocal learning project the Greater Essex County District School Board is involved in, joining schools in Ontario and South West China. "The primary goal of the project is to build a knowledge base for understanding and comparing the Canadian and Chinese educational systems, for generating positive, reciprocal, practitioner knowledge and methods, and for contributing to public discussion of primary and secondary education in China, Canada and more broadly."* Dr. Howitt explained Windsor/ChongQing as sister schools, and what we've learned from the program: In terms of academic learning, we've gained insight in both content and pedagogical knowledge and understanding. In terms of cultural learning - an understanding, appreciation and celebration of diversity.
