Guest speaker Dr. C. Lloyd John-Brown explained a bit of the history of ElderCollege, which included an idea from United Church Minister, Rev. Welburn Jones, a curriculum from a friend who ran an ElderCollege at Capilano University, B.C and joint interest from Dr. Gord Drake, Principle of Canterbury College. A feasability study was conducted and in 2011, ElderCollege officially launched. The college caters to those 55+ and offers a wide range of different courses, from chain saw sculptures to courses on how to manage your finances, and everything in between!
