Speaker Kitty Pope, CEO - Windsor Public Library

David Eady introduced Kitty Pope, CEO of the Windsor Public Library. Ms. Pope was excited to share three new developments with regards to the WPL:

- First, the library’s new John Muir branch is holding a grand opening celebration this Saturday Sept. 28. Festivities will begin at 1 p.m. at the library - 363 Mill St., which has been constructed in a repurposed 1921 fire hall and an 1850s horse stable.

- Second, the Budimir library branch in South Windsor is expanding by adding 6,000 square feet, almost doubling the current floor space. This addition is expected to be completed by February or March.

- Third, the Central Library will be moving to it’s temporary location, the annex of the Paul Martin Building. They’ll be going from 100,000 sq ft to 22,000, so plan on splitting up some of the collections and moving into various locations throughout the city, until they have a permanent new downtown library in place. This could take anywhere from 5-7 years.
