This native Australian (and member of Rotary Club of Melbourn) was only 22 years old when she started her organization, Seven Women, after meeting seven disabled women working in a tin shed in Kathmandu. Since then, Seven Women has empowered over 5,000 women in Nepal through education and employment. Check out https://sevenwomen.org/ for more information. Clinton Beckford and Janet Kelly shared similar projects supported by Windsor (1918) in Tanzania and Ghana. Clinton started his Leadership and Empowerment program in Tanzania three years ago, which focuses on empowering girls and women. Janet spoke about the Aid to Widows program led by fellow Rotarian Om Chandna and Dr. Godfrey Bacheyie’s microfinancing project helping women in Degri start businesses and become financially independent. “If you empower women, they’ll take care of everything else”.
