Members welcomed Marium Tolson-Murtty who spoke on the Anti-Black Racism Task Force at the University of Windsor.  Marium explained that anti-black racism reflects the policies and practices that are rooted in institutions (education, health care and justice) that mirror anti-beliefs, attitudes, prejudices and stereotyping toward people of black- African descent.  Citing the large amount of anti-black racism in local history, Marium suggested that the following should be considered when fighting racism: a history of racial ideology, colonization of institutions globally, understanding the systems of oppression, understanding what prejudice is and what it looks like, racism vs. racial prejudice and the culture of compliance.  In June 2020, University President, Dr. Robert Gordon, established the Anti-Black Racism Task Force to ensure that all students have a safe and welcoming environment.
