Tuesday's program featured Dr. Lisa Porter who spoke on the advancements in the treatment of breast cancer with a special emphasis on the research she is conducting at the University of Windsor.
Dr. Porter’s powerpoint presentation outlined the causes of cancer (smoking, lifestyle choices, pollution, ageing, and just bad luck). She reviewed the history of cancer research and, through a series of charts, illustrated how new treatments have significantly decreased mortality rates for this type of cancer. Dr. Porter further presented information on WE SPARK – which sees researchers at the University working with area hospitals to enhance local health and well-being. Dr. Porter’s final words are worth remembering, “The rising tide lifts all the boats.”
