Tonight we welcomed new member, Vitra Chodha.  Vitra is a former Rotaractor who has now become a full-fledged Rotarian.
She is very concerned with gender-based violence and sees Rotary as a way to support positive projects in this area.

The “Write to Read” project is a joint program between Rotary and the government of British Colombia.  It began with then Lt. Governor, Steven Point challenged Rotarian Bob Blacker to develop a literacy program for isolated indigenous communities in northern B.C.  Soon Shirley-Pat Chamberlain joined the team and together they have established 20 libraries and literacy centres in the province.  Citing that together we transform, mentor and promote peace, the three speakers provided a passionate and moving presentation.  As a token of appreciation, the Satellite Club made a donation to the project.
