This week our speaker was Jim Scott, President of Ground Effects Ltd. and local philanthropist.
Mr. Scott spoke about his desire to make the world better, as encapsulated in his motto: If you have the means to help and the heart to help then you should help. He spoke of his long-time work and support in Haiti. In addition to orphanages, he also founded and supports Enable Haiti, in which sustainable projects help people obtain jobs and skills. As a result of the efforts of him, his family, and 3500 employees of his company, last year 9 wishes were granted for Make a Wish, and all of the teachers’ salaries from the orphanages in Haiti were paid.
Suzanne Grouette was affirmed as Chair-Elect for 2021-22, replacing Clinton Beckford, now Chair for 2021-22.
The Satellite Club executive will meet Wednesday to identify potential options for in-person meetings, which will be brought back to the Club.
