Monday, we welcomed Bryce Phillips and Stephanie Campeau from the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
Bryce shared a project update that included the new protocols in place for COVID-19. The inspections for far have gone very well with respect to managing the project and the new COVID-19 protocols.
They’re proud that it is a sustainable project. Designed to meet Envision Silver level, but Bryce explained they would like to exceed that level.
It’s exciting that this project is considered a benchmark in the industry, including street reconstruction on Sandwich street. About 3km of Sandwich street will be improved and reconstructed to align with the overall community benefits plan.
- Workforce development – improve businesses, engage businesses and focus on supporting workforce, training and pre-apprenticeship opportunities.
- The neighbourhood infrastructure strategy. And develop a community investment strategy based on identified priorities.
There’s also a plan to include bridge artwork that the team is very excited about! This is about creating opportunities for trades and local artists.
