Monday, January 25th, we welcomed Karen McClellan & Stephanie Barnhard from Windsor Endowment for the Arts.

The organization was created because the arts were under-supported by all government levels. Today, the group supports and celebrates all forms of art, including literacy, performing, and visual arts.

They have many community programs that integrate art and non-art subjects. The speakers explained how Windsor-Essex has the highest level of child poverty in Canada, and as we know, poverty poses a significant barrier to learning.
In partnership with the GECDSB, WEA is working to help students in poverty access the tools and equipment they need to develop a love of learning. This includes Dance and Drama activities, team-teaching-based learning, and creating programs that students can enjoy virtually at home or school.

They would like our help to inspire children and change their odds for the future.
