District Conference Highlights

Thank you Leona and Frank, Peter and Denise, Mike Serafimovski and family, Gord and Mary Lou, and Rick for representing us at the District Conference!

Here's what you missed if you weren't able to attend!
  1. Governor Aruna presented Clinton Beckford with a COG Award to recognize his service to Rotary in E.D.I. including his role at the zone level.
  2. PDG Fred Sorrel and Bill Wilkinson were remembered at the ceremony on Sunday morning.
  3. Peter was an excellent EMCEE for the Thursday Night Social and during one of the Friday morning sessions.
  4. Rick was EMCEE for the Saturday night Awards session.
  5. Rick gave a presentation on Tanzania projects and Linda Morrow from Roseland spoke about Ghana projects, both presentations highlighting our club’s significant involvement.
  6. Rick and Mike enjoyed golfing together on Saturday afternoon with Chris and Neil from the Essex Rotary Club.
  7. Ed Boycott was recognized for his having achieved PHF + 4 status; and Peter, Mary Lou and Leona became members of the district End Polio Society, committing $100 per year until polio is eradicated.

The following are some important numbers that we wanted to share with our membership!

Since 1985, Rotarians in D6400 have given,
  • $8.4M to the Annual Fund
  • $2.5M to PolioPlus
  • Add in gifts to the Endowment and other funds the members have given close to $15M to TRF
  • The district also has 199 Major Donors and 108 Bequest Society members (all-time)

Currently, the District
  • Is involved (as host sponsor, international sponsor, or contributor) in 38 active global grants with a total value of about $6.3 million.
  • Is involved in 3 global grants in the draft stage, 3 in authorization stage, and 2 that are waiting for approval from the Rotary Foundation with a total value of just under $1 million.

Sincerely,
Rick

PS:  There are two more global grants currently in discussion – a global scholar and support of a global grant in Brazil with the contact made via Youth Exchange (They attended the conference)
