Monday, we welcomed guest speaker Gordon Orr to present the tourism industry's response to COVID and how we can support the businesses impacted most by the pandemic.

Gordon and his group discussed various promotions available for the holidays, including the Barrels, Bottles and Brews Flight Log, For the Love of Crust Windsor Pizza Campaign, Making Spirits Bright Holiday Box and the award-winning holiday gift guide #YQGHolidays.

They've seen a lot of success this season with the reach of their campaigns and how receptive the community is to the message of shopping local.

The guide is most well-known for the Holiday Events section. Instead of sorting it by town like in previous years, they sorted the events by in-person or virtual this year. This includes workshops, drive-through events like parades, digital events, etc.

They also have a promotion called Home for the holidays – the focus is less on inviting people to visit and explore and instead focused on the people coming home for the holidays. It has deals for hotel stays to help families respect social distancing guidelines and protect their bubbles with professionally cleaned environments.
